New Delhi, 01 October—With Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asking today whether Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was pressured to change the online Form 6. popular pressure is building up against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as more and more issues are being raised by the opposition exposing his involvement in derailing the country’s democratic process.
Continuing with his mission to ensure right to vote for country men and women, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha sought answers from the Election Commission of India over the controversial changes made to the online Form 6 used for enrolment of new voters, asking who ordered TCS to implement the modification and who within the company approved it.
Rahul also asked whether the TCS was pressured into doing this.
In a post on X, he referred to objections recorded by Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu over the addition of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-related declaration to the statutory Form 6.
“The online Form 6 was changed illegally – as the EC’s own Commissioners have recorded. Who at the ECI ordered Tata Consultancy Services to make that change?” Rahul said.
“Who at TCS signed off on it? And were they pressured into doing it?” he said on X.
Tagging Rahul’s post, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “Form 6 changes were introduced by the CEC unconstitutionally in mid-July 2026 to remove Gen Z voters from the electoral roll. Clearly, the move was orchestrated by the PM-HM (Narendra Modi-Amit Shah) duo.”
Rahul’s remarks come a day after the opposition INDIA bloc announced joint ‘save democracy’ marches in all districts and five major rallies, demanded that future polls be held with ballot paper and appealed to the Supreme Court to expedite cases of SIR and electoral “malpractices”.
At a meeting attended by leaders of as many as 19 political parties that lasted over three-and-a-half hours, it was decided that all opposition MPs will march to the Election Commission on October 6 and the leaders would meet the President to highlight the issues related to alleged irregularities in voter list revision.
The opposition grouping discussed the demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and said they will not relent till he is removed.
An investigative new story by The Indian Express revealed that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections to changes made to the online Form 6, the application used for inclusion of names in electoral rolls.
According to report, an additional declaration relating to the previous SIR electoral roll was added to the online Form 6 on the ECINET portal. The declaration sought information on whether the applicant’s name, or that of their parent or grandparent, appeared in the electoral roll prepared during the previous SIR.
Under fire over the red flags raised by two of its commissioners over the SIR process, the EC has asserted that differing views and observations are a normal part of deliberations in any institution and all its orders carry full legal sanction and follow established statutory procedures.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has demanded an FIR be filed against Election Commission of India’s director general of IT, Seema Khanna over electoral-roll software in a manner that allowed voter names and lists to be centrally added, deleted or altered in Bengal.
Moitra on X wrote, “Today I filed a complaint at the Parliament Street Police Station to file an FIR against Seema Khanna. The SHO asked for time until the 5th to see if a case is made out for an FIR. I told him I would return on the 6th for a follow-up.”
