BHARAT BANDH: NO MAJOR IMPACT

NEW DELHI, Feb 2026 : The one-day strike as Bharat Bandh call given by all central trade union bodies and farmers’ organisations on Thursday did not have any major impact on the normal life.

Congress backed the nationwide strike; Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge attack Centre over trade deal and labour laws. Kharge said all the country’s trade unions, farmers, and workers are on the streets against the Modi government’s trade deal, labour laws and the “snatching away of MGNREGA.”

A mixed response was seen in States including Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government ignored the voices of workers and farmers while making decisions concerning their future.

Employees and workers associated with a joint forum of central trade unions observed a day-long strike today to show their “resistance to anti-worker, anti-farmer and anti-national pro-corporate policies of the central government”. The forum has claimed that 30 crore workers are being mobilised for a “general strike” to protest against the new labour codes, among other issues.
