BJP KEEPING CLOSE EYES ON JDU-RJD OUTREACH MISSION !

New Delhi: As the countdown begins for the counting of votes on Friday amid the suspense of exit poll projections, Bihar’s political corridors are abuzz with talk of a possible post-poll realignment. Reports from both Patna and New Delhi suggest that the political landscape in Bihar may witness a dramatic turn once the results are declared.

Highly placed sources within both the JD(U) and RJD have confirmed that a close confidante of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav to discuss the evolving political scenario.

Though details of the meetings remain undisclosed, insiders say both sides have explored options for a post-poll understanding in case of a fractured mandate. The revelation, which quickly spread through Patna’s media and political circles, has reportedly caused deep anxiety within the BJP camp, which was banking on forming the next government independently.

According to sources in the NDA, there is speculation that the BJP leadership may propose a compromise formula, allowing the chief ministership to stay with JD(U) but replacing Nitish Kumar with another JD(U) nominee acceptable to the BJP.

Names such as Lalan Singh and Sanjay Kumar Jha, known for their proximity to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, have surfaced as potential options.

However, senior JD(U) leaders have rejected any such possibility outright. “There will be no compromise on the Chief Minister’s post. Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister and will remain so as long as he wishes,” a top JD(U) functionary asserted, dismissing BJP’s manoeuvres as a sign of nervousness ahead of the results.

Meanwhile, BJP sources revealed that Amit Shah and other senior leaders have already chalked out a post-result strategy. The party plans to immediately stake claim to form the government if it emerges as the single largest party on November 14.

However, in case of a hung verdict, the BJP may bide its time, avoiding hasty decisions, and could even consider recommending President’s Rule in the state to prevent any immediate coalition between the JD(U) and RJD.

Political observers believe that the BJP’s solo ambition to dominate Bihar politics may have backfired, reviving old suspicions within its allies. Nitish Kumar, known for his deft political manoeuvres, appears to be keeping his cards close to his chest, leaving both BJP and RJD guessing about his next move. As Bihar awaits the results, one thing is clear-—the real political battle may begin only after the votes are counted.
