

NEW DELHI, 21 Feb 2026 : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi held a session here Friday evening with the PCC and CLP leaders of J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan as also the Himachal Pradesh chief minister to discuss the farmers of these six states to be directly hit by the India-US trade agreement.
AICC general secretary Jairam Ramesh told reporters that this is a clearcut surrender of Prime Minister Modi. He said Kharge and Rahul will attend the farmers’ sessions at Bhopal on February 24 and at Yavatmal in Maharashtra on March 7 and the third session in Sriganganagar in the month of March to discuss the impact of the trade deal with the US.
He said both the leaders pointed out that this was second surrender of the Modi government to the United States, the first being on May 10, 2025 on the sudden stoppage of the Operation Sindoor in Pakistan.
Jairam said the Congress will back the farmers in an agitation alike one they had conducted to force withdrawal of three black agriculture laws.
