NEW DELHI,9 Jan 2026: Congress MP and Gujarat Congress President Shaktisinh Gohil on Friday spoke about the GST loot by the Government.
He told a Press conference here that the BJP government is taking money from the poor and the salaried people who are in the middle class while the big industrialists and a handful of the rich are allowed to loot the GST from the government treasury.
Gohil said the BJP government taxes expenditure and not the income. He compared the GST brought by the previous UPA government while the present government allowed Modi’s favourites 10 billionaires contribute just 3% in the GST.
He said this has resulted in the gap between haves and havenots increasing. The government reduced Rs 2 lakh crore corporate tax that benefitted only Modi’s favourite billionaire friends. He said this is nothing but distributing “revadi” to the PM’s friends.
Gohil said Rahul Gandhi rightly described GST as the Gabbar Tax as the middle class has to pay 28% GST. He said there are different GST slabs on 50 products that are recovered from the common man. Those friendly with the government resort to Rs 2 lakh crore GST theft. He said 35,000 crore input taxes allowed and 12% allowed to be reduced that benefits the rich.
He cited the case of farmers who have to pay 28% GST on agricultural inputs, including insecticides. He referred to the health insurance that requires 18% GST.
