NEW DELHI,9 Feb 2026 : Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day and will resume proceedings on Tuesday at 11 am.
On Monday, Opposition parties also announced plans to move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, citing a lack of alternatives. The development comes amid growing tensions and repeated disruptions in the Lower House.
Parliament had reconvened today following a stormy week marked by repeated disruptions over the India-US trade agreement and references to an unreleased book by former Army chief General MM Naravane on the 2020 Galwan clash with China.
LoP Rahul Gandhi again raked up the 2020 Galwan clash today. Addressing the Lower House, he said, “The Speaker commited to us that I will be allowed before budget discussion. So I want to know from Chair if I will be allowed to make those points,” referring to an unreleased book by former Army Chief General MM Naravane on the Galwan clash with China.
Speaker Om Birla replied that no such notice had been received and urged MPs to proceed with the Budget discussion. Soon after the House was adjourned for the day.
With much of last week’s legislative business disrupted, Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, held a coordination meeting at Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge’s office at 10 am. The first phase of the Budget Session is scheduled to conclude on February 13, after which Parliament will break for recess before resuming on March 9.
