SUSPENDED EX-MINISTER RK SINGH QUITS BJP AFTER CRACKDOWN ON BIHAR REBELS

New Delhi, 15 November 2025: In a dramatic escalation of internal turmoil within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar, former Union Minister and ex-Arrah MP Raj Kumar Singh on Saturday resigned from the party, just hours after the state unit cracked down on senior leaders accused of indiscipline and anti-party activity.

Singh, a former Union Home Secretary-turned-politician, had been a prominent dissenter in the Bihar BJP since his defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Over the past year, he repeatedly criticised the functioning of the state government and questioned the leadership style of top BJP figures in Bihar. His sharp comments had placed him under increasing scrutiny from the party high command.

On Saturday morning, Bihar BJP’s state headquarters in-charge Arvind Sharma issued suspension notices to Singh and two other leaders—Legislative Council member Ashok Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal. The notices accused them of publicly attacking party decisions and undermining the NDA leadership in the state. All three have been asked to respond within a week explaining why they should not be expelled permanently.

Shortly after receiving the suspension order, Singh announced his resignation from the BJP, calling the disciplinary action “an attempt to silence voices of truth within the party.” He said he had long warned that “corruption, arrogance, and internal sabotage” were damaging the BJP’s credibility in Bihar.

Singh had been openly targeting Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who also serves as one of the BJP’s tallest OBC leaders in the state. He accused Choudhary of contributing to the party’s decline and of failing to uphold accountability and transparency. His attacks intensified after political strategist Prashant Kishor levelled corruption allegations against Choudhary and Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal. Singh demanded a public clarification, arguing that the party could not claim moral high ground while ignoring charges against its own leaders.

With Singh’s exit, the BJP faces renewed questions about internal dissent and factionalism, particularly at a time when the party is attempting to consolidate its position in post-election Bihar. Party insiders fear that Singh’s departure may embolden other disgruntled leaders, potentially widening the cracks within the state unit at a sensitive political moment.
