MANIPUR MUSIC TEACHER KILLED IN DELHI

NEW DELHI: In the wake of the death of a Manipuri music teacher, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Delhi Police over what he called “growing lawlessness” against people from the Northeast in the capital.

In the early hours of Monday, 54-year-old Vikram Singh objected to delivery workers and dhaba staff making loud noise and drinking outside his home, triggering a dispute and a subsequent assault.

Singh sustained serious injuries in the attack and was rushed to a hospital, but died during treatment.

Condemning the incident, the Congress leader said in a post on X, “A father, killed outside his own home, in his own country’s capital. After many such incidents, every Northeast family in Delhi is asking the same question today – are we safe here?”

He then went on to question the Union Home Minister and the Delhi Police over the “growing lawlessness, especially against people from the Northeast”, while calling for a swift investigation and said those responsible must be brought to justice.

In connection to the fatal attack, the police have arrested seven men and detained a juvenile.
