Fresh questions have been raised over a land transaction involving the Ram Temple Trust in Ayodhya, with allegations that a parcel of land recorded as Nazul land (government-owned land) in official revenue records was sold to the Trust through a private individual.
The controversy pertains to Plot No. 247, measuring 0.645 hectares, in Sadar Tehsil, Ayodhya. According to those raising the allegations, the land is recorded as Nazul land in government records, yet it was allegedly transferred and sold to the Ram Temple Trust for ₹23.60 crore in the name of a private individual. They argue that if the land was indeed classified as government property, its sale through private ownership raises serious legal and administrative questions.
Former kar sevak Santosh Dubey and advocate Praveen Dubey have written to Narendra Modi, urging a comprehensive investigation into the transaction. In their letter, they have sought action against those found responsible for the alleged irregularities and called for the recovery of any funds that may have been wrongfully paid from the Ram Temple Trust’s treasury if the allegations are substantiated.
The matter has also drawn comments from senior advocate Ashok Arora, a former Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association. Arora has questioned how land allegedly recorded as Nazul land could have been transferred and sold through a private party. He has called for a transparent and independent inquiry to establish the facts and determine whether the transaction complied with applicable laws and procedures.
As of now, neither the Ram Temple Trust nor the concerned government authorities have publicly responded to these allegations. The claims remain allegations, and their veracity will ultimately depend on the findings of any official investigation or judicial process.
