New Delhi :Speculation over the future of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma continues, a new question is being raised in political circles: Is the real story about changing the Chief Minister, or about who controls the BJP’s political machinery in Rajasthan?
Insider of the BJP indicates the growing influence of Sunil Bansal, one of the BJP’s most trusted organizational strategists. Known for his behind-the-scenes role in strengthening the party structure in several states, Bansal is often seen as a key link between the BJP’s central leadership and state units. Bansal belongs to Kotputli town of Rajasthan and may have emerged as a dark horse, according to the BJP sources. He is close to Home Minister Amit Shah and has strong backing of RSS.
The speculation is not that Bansal wants to become Chief Minister. Rather, the discussion revolves around whether the BJP is increasingly relying on its organizational network to shape Rajasthan’s political future. If electoral calculations, caste equations, and governance concerns become more important ahead of future elections, the party could look for adjustments in leadership or strategy.
Supporters of Bhajan Lal Sharma argue that he was chosen directly by the central leadership and continues to enjoy its confidence. They point to government initiatives and organizational stability as evidence that there is no immediate threat to his position.
Critics, however, claim that frequent rumors of a leadership change reflect unease within sections of the party. They argue that the strengthening of the organization could eventually lead to a reassessment of the state’s political leadership.
The larger question is whether Rajasthan is witnessing a silent shift in power from government-centric politics to organization-centric politics. If that is happening, Sunil Bansal’s influence may become one of the most important factors in understanding the BJP’s future strategy in the state.
