New Delhi: Representatives of Tchoukball Federations from across South Asia met in New Delhi to discuss the development, promotion and wider popularisation of the sport in the region.
The South Asian Tchoukball Federations Summit was hosted by India and Presided over by M.F. Farooqui, IPS, President of the Indian Tchoukball Federation (ITBF), according to a press note issued by the Federation.
The meeting was attended by Dellen, President of the International Tchoukball Federation (FITB), Jonathan, President of the Sri Lanka Tchoukball Federation, Kalol Das, President of the Bangladesh Tchoukball Federation, Trilok Pandey, President of the Nepal Tchoukball Federation, and Faisal Asad Khokhar, Secretary General of the Pakistan Tchoukball Federation, who participated through video conference. Mahesh Bhatt accompanied the Nepalese delegation.
Representing the Indian federation were Vice-President Suresh Gandhi, Secretary General Dr Rashmi Vij, Joint Secretary Kishan Patel and Treasurer Ashok Goyary.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation among National Federations and encouraging greater participation in Tchoukball. The Federations also discussed coaching and officiating standards, the exchange of sporting expertise, regional competitions and creating more opportunities for young and emerging players.
The participating federations stressed the need for regular interaction and cooperation to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices. They also discussed ways to provide athletes with greater exposure at regional and international levels.
Representatives from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan took part in the meeting, underlining the regional scope of the discussions. The federation said the participation reflected growing interest in tchoukball in South Asia and the sport’s potential to promote sporting interaction and people-to-people ties in the region.
The meeting concluded with the participating Federations expressing their intention to work collectively towards the sustained development and international advancement of Tchoukball.
