SC HEARING AGAINST CEC GYANESH KUMAR ON NOV 17

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear petitions challenging Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission of India’s functioning on November 17, 2026.

The pleas question whether key decisions concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were taken collectively, while the ECI maintains that the relevant orders were unanimous.

The Court has given petitioners 10 days to respond to the Commission’s affidavit and has also issued notice on a separate petition concerning alleged changes to online Form 6, used for voter registration.

No final ruling has been delivered; the proceedings will examine issues central to institutional accountability and confidence in electoral administration.
