S.SUKUMAR Chennai, 11May 2026: In a dramatic and emotionally charged political moment, actor-turned-politician Vijay on Sunday scripted history by taking oath as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu before a roaring crowd at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
The swearing-in ceremony turned into a massive public spectacle as lakhs of enthusiastic supporters, many waving TVK flags and carrying Vijay posters, thronged the stadium and surrounding roads from early morning. Chants of “Thalapathy Vijay” echoed across the venue as the Tamil superstar arrived amid unprecedented fanfare.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by R. N. Ravi after Vijay successfully demonstrated the support of 120 MLAs, comfortably crossing the majority mark of 118 in the 234-member Assembly.
Though his party emerged with an impressive 108 seats, intense political negotiations continued for nearly a week before smaller parties extended crucial .
